I’m feeling sad today. I don’t have much to say to you guys except the things I told myself this morning:
I believe we hold our peace within, in the quiet moments of our past, in our hopes for the future. The picture above was taken in St. Maarteen. For me, it brings to mind the gentle bobbing of warm water all around me, the laugh of my daughter in the background, peace with my husband. This was a brief moment in time when we had no responsibilities except to be happy and free. Life can’t be like that all the time. If it were, we wouldn’t grow and learn. We would be children forever. Knowing this doesn’t make life any easier to bear. When I am sad and disappointed, I look at this picture and remember I found peace in the past and I will again. No pain lasts forever.
In the meantime, when I need an escape or I just want to avoid thinking about stuff, there are always books, particularly romance novels. There’s nothing like immersing myself in someone else’s troubles and experiencing their Happily Ever After to soothe the soul.
