We are just about three quarters of the way into the year and you still have time to meet your yearly goals set in January and forgotten or you are behind in achieving them. Use the month of August as a new start point and map out what can be done in weekly increments to achieve your goal by December 25th ( I always set Christmas as my goal line to provide the biggest present to myself!, it also leaves a final push week before the new
year if you need it).
You maybe disappointed on your progress or lack there of and think you can not achieve the goal in the limited time remaining; but even if you miss it you will still be a lot closer than today! The secret to achieve an goal is to focus on the next small increment towards it, not the finish line that may seems miles away. In my younger life I was a long distance runner running over a hundred miles a week during training for my half-marathons or 10k races. I learned that you can not focus 6 to 13 miles to complete your goal, but the next quarter mile (next small increment). This focused the mind on achieving it and gave you a vote of confidence for do it. It also made it seem like it was more achievable by have a tighter focus on what you were doing.
I like to start my goal settings on Sundays as that is my off day from most things. If you use that day to start your week, it gives you time to plan each days activity. Cut out about an hour of your Sunday to plan your week and reconcile your prior week. Planning daily each task will give you a tight focus for that day, but Remember to be flexible, life happens and you may not be able to achieve your goal that or many days in a row, but by having daily goals, you know where you left off and can pick off where you left off. When you reconcile your week on Sunday, do not adjust your next week, see if you can incorporate the prior weeks task you did not achieve into the new week, this may mean you may have to increase you effort for the next week or even do something on this and next Sunday to catch up. That is okay, but do not make it a habit to not have Sunday off for rest, reconciling and planning.
As the weeks go by and you see yourself moving positively toward achieving your goal, you will see an improvement in your attitude, your confidence in achieving it and you will be happier overall. Positive progress will also make you want to do more towards achieving your goal and you will see that your planning will go easier and your week will be fuller. Everything accelerates with positive progress towards your goal.
You have approximately 12 weeks between now and December 25th and you can still significantly change your life by get closer or achieving a yearly goal. Be it getting a new job, dropping some weight, getting your life organize or finding reigniting your passion for the life you living. You get one life, live each day to it fullest potential and more of those days will add up to a better more fulfilling one.
